Default Intake got taken!

Well, a long time ago a friend of mine wrecked his civic and lent me his SRI. I've been using it for like 9 months now and since then have gotten new headers, hi-flow cat, and my exhaust re-done. So he took it back the other day cause he got his going again and i've been suffering with my old box on there! I just ordered one off Ebay but i gotta tell all the noobs this... all the other mods don't really mean jack without intake, holy crap, i can't even get my civic to peal out.... even a little bit... it'll be awhile till my new SRI gets here... hope i make it.

Cool, ditch the filter and get a K&N or an AEM filter.

Stupid question for you guys: Everyone has been talking about how much their intake has helped out their hondas, but I had one (K&N FIPK) that I installed on my dodge dakota (4.7) and it really didnt seem to make that much difference. It seemed a little doggy, loud as hell, and no notice in power. Im wondering what makes them seem so effective on the civics?

Basically, when driving a civic without an aftermarket intake, there is a considerable about of bog in between shifts. A good cai/sri will clear that bog up, so that it no longer exists. Therefore, when we start shifting with the new intake, there is MUCH better/quicker throttle response.

well maybe Dodge designed a good intake from the factory. The 03 Ram has a very nice stock intake. Matter of fact you actually lose power by changing it. (dyno proven)
Most of us roll older Hondas and they didn't know back then what made things fun...lucky for us.

there is actually a peice on the stock intake on civics (at least teh EK's) that blocks airflow, to make the car quieter for the average civic driver. Without that problem it can increase the throttle response like forty04 said.
