Default Interior Q for '96 Civic

I recently bought my 1st car and its a '96 Civic DX. The interior looks like crap, so i'm gonna be working on that.

Is it possible to put power windows and locks in it?
I'm just so used to every car being loaded to the max..

Can Armor All be the perfect tool to make all the plastics shine like new?

yes its possible to put power doors and windows in. just find a civic at the junk yard with these options and get the parts you need and swap them over

i've used armor all before i guess it works.

Welcome to the forums!

As far as the power windows and locks, I'm sure you can swap it in, but I don't know how hard it would be. You could get doors with the power windows/locks already installed from an EX at a junkyard, but I don't know if there's any wiring already installed in the DX models for power accessories or not.

Also, I would heavily suggest not to use Armor-All. It has a bad habit of discoloring/fading dashes as well as causing them to crack. I'd suggest something like Meguiar's Supreme Shine protectant spray. It's the only thing I'll use in my mustang, and trust me, it makes the plastic and vinyl look brand new.

Yeah, obviously nobody can prove that it's Armor All causing a dash to crack, but I've heard more than a few stories of dashes cracking after using Armor All. Granted, maybe it's just certain dashes that aren't supposed to have protectants used, but the story is always about Armor All.

good thing I asked, thanks for the armor all tip reaper.

so its as easy as finding spare doors? there might be parts in the EX which go along with the power windows, right? Well i'll find out soon enough if my treasure hunt at the junk yard was worth my while

Yup. I believe all EX's came with power options standard, but I'm not positive. I know my old '94 EX was literally fully loaded; the only option it didn't have was the factory fogs, and those weren't offered on USDM civics in '94 lol.

But I'd check out the local junkyards for EX's. If you're looking for the full door, anything between '96 and 2000 will work. If you're looking for the window motor, switches, locks, etc, '92-'95 parts might work, but I'm not sure.

i myself am waiting for my local pullapart to get a coupe with power windows in and ill be gutting all i can both doors and wire harness.
so far no luck tho... only civics coming in the yard have been 4door sedans.

Armor All faded my dash. I used a magic eraser to clean the dash off completely and then switched to Meguiars and it didn't help. Then I switched to Mother's and it restored my dash.

Meguiars is good though as long as you're not trying to use it to recover the dash, only maintain it.

The Mother's works good at both.

For the power locks/windows the best thing to do would be to get doors from an upper trim level 96-98 Civic, and swap the guts into your doors. Also the floor harness that goes under the dash, and all control boxes and relays.

If you want keyless entry you'll either need to buy an alarm/keyless entry or get a factory 96-98 radio and remote.
