Hi everyone,

I'm curious as to what sort of kilometers (miles) I can expect to put on my civic before she dies (I was expecting 250,000km . Talked to a mechanic today and they said they had 450,000km on a Mazda before they sold it (it was still working) and he's seen civics (this is uncommon) with as many as 600,000km - if they are well maintained. His big suggestion for me was to keep the engine in good condition, mainly changing the oil,lube every 5,000km instead of the standard 6,000 or 8,000km. You don't want to get dirty oil in there he said. So now I have a car maintenance plan which I will follow - because it seems that preventative maintenance is better and cheaper than reactionary maintenace.

So here's my questions (Sorry if this thread has gone around already - didn't really search for it):

1. What's the largest number of km (miles) you've seen on a civic?
2. How long do you plan on keeping your civic?

 

1. i have a 92 civic hatch with over 400,000 miles on the body and it had over 329,000 on the original motor before i changed it
2. i guess i'll keep it till it falls apart lol
keep up the maintenance on it and you'll get alot of miles out of it

 

There was a civic that rolled over to 0 miles and honda tried to buy it off the guy but he wouldn't sell.

 

yea i heard they would trade him any car he wanted but he refused

 

The guy at the dealership where I got my car had a cluster sitting on his desk reading 678,000 miles or something like that, pretty dang cool. Said it came out of an 80's accord

I just got over 250k (miles) actualy.. pretty neat.. and it still runs GREAT... I really needa get that oil changed though..

I think i'll be runin it till it blows apart (and even then...)

highest i think i've seen is 220k miles on an EJ1. everything about the car was in pretty good condition for that much. it came thru my work, i was soooo tempted to ask how much the lady wanted for it and buy it but meh..

i have 180k on my EJ1 and plan on keeping it for as long as damn possible. once the engine dies, more like if it ever dies, ill be swaping it and prolly make it a race only car.
