Default Limited to 3000 rpms when at operating temperature.

I have a 1995 honda civic when i start my car in the morning my car runs fine but when the engine gets to operating temperature or warmed up it redlines at 3000 rpms or it doesn't exceed 3000 rpms. can anyone help me?

Well it's one way to save gas... You'll have to wait for Ronj to come on and tell you whats wrong or at least how to fix it. Also welcome to Honda Civic Forum since this is obviously you're first post and well... Im guessing you'll never post again by your account name.

I don't have problem posting to find out more about the honda civics cause i'm trying to get this one running to sell it and get another.

Is the CEL ON? Does the CEL work? Try retrieving CEL codes from the ECU as detailed at the link in my signature.

I've changed that out already but i'll try cleaning it next to see what happens after........... I will get my car tested tomorrow and we'll see what happens but cleaning that out will be the very next step.

Only comes on when the engine gets to operating temperature, then the engine doesn't go above 3000 rpms.....

Retrieve the CEL codes from the ECU as detailed at the link in my signature. The codes will likely pinpoint the problem.

You are experiencing "limp home" mode. When the ECU has detected one of several possible problems, in addition to turning the CEL on, it will also impose a rpm limit.

You don't need any computer or special tools to read out the trouble code. Simply jumper the test connector with a piece of wire, turn the key on, and the CEL will blink out the code number(s).
