RE: Mileage Wars!
Holy old thread.....but i'll chime in.
my 91 DX hatch w/ the 1.5 and a 4-speed gets 38 mpg city or highway....doesn't matter either way.....in the summer....i have hit 41 before.
in the winter i get about 35 hwy and 30 city......
It runs best when the engine is warm obviously....when it is 0* outside....the thing never warms up....lol....I now stick cardboard in the front of the rad to completely cover it....that helps alot.

98 DX coupe auto
around 28mpg city driving, no mods (and when i say city, i mean i got 6 miles in about a hour's time...)
record is around 40 on the highway long distance (CT to MD)
stop & go is definitely killing my mileage... and I should take it in to get it tuned anyway...

i'm a firm believer in Seafoam....
the lady that had the civic before me did stop and go driving for 8 yrs back and forth to work......
when i got the car, i went straight to highway driving at 80 mph.....it ate oil like crazy (1qt every 500miles)....just wasn't used to working hard. after 8k miles or so it droped to 1qt every 1800 or so. My mileage was around 33-35 hwy and i figured it was sposed to get better than that.
I did 2 cans of seafoam just as the directions say and i am now at 38 mpg hyw and some times 40.....
...not to mention the smoother and quieter idle.
