Decent air intake will get you around 5 horsepower and 15 pounds of torque, might not sound like much but it makes a difference. Lighten the car as well, weight is key to everything, it will improve your accelleration, cornering and to some extent, your top end.

Not sure about outlet manifolds, Im more into audio installs and dont get too involved engine wise (yet xD ) aparently a good manufactor over here is AEM, KnN are also recommended but they dont give that much of a kick on the power. www.bansheemotorsport.com do some really good stuff, I use them for everything I get (partly cos i live very near the shop so dont need to pay postage!) but they are really helpful too. You could also go for a performance exhaust which might give you a boost up in power as well.

Please ignore everything he just said. Your intake WILL NOT IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE get you 15 ft lbs of torque. Weight also does not improve top end. You're looking more at like 3-4 hp and 3-4 trq...if you're lucky.

K&N says their CAI (Typhoon) will give 5+ HP gains. Not sure if that applies to all models and engines. I looked up an 07 and a 99. Both showed 5.7 HP gains on a dyno. No torque info.

I cant remember the brand, it was something I was talking to a chappy about at my local tuner shop! He did show me the dynos of the car (MG ZS) both before and after the air filter went in, after it went in it showed 5 horsepower and 15 lb of torque extra! If they shoved any other mods in as well I dont know cos i wasnt there at the time, but that was the dyno reading i was given anyway.

I/H/E is always the easiest way to start, probably wont get too much out of those mods though 15 hp/tq tops (my guesstimate)

although in light cars like civics, you really do notice 15 hp, its like a 10%+ increase in power dependin on you motor lol
