Default Motor a little wet with oil...2001 civic ex

I was wondering what this could be from. After over 6000 miles without a oil change(usually go 10) with synthetic it has just gotten down to the add mark.

So it is not really using oil. Yet around the front of the motor it is pretty covered in a light amount of oil. My dads 2001 civic ex also has oil on the motor just like mine.

I am selling the car tomorrow but I just wondered if this was a issue with these?

ok well for one dont ever, Ever, EVER... go over 3000 miles without an oil change. Two, i bet because of goin dat much over... dat causes dat problem. n three, dont ever wait til da add mark!

now post a pic up or be more specific on where da leak is comin from. and no its not an issue if u know how to take care of a car.

I was suggested by several people to do up to 10k on synthetic. I am not running a V8 with regular oil here. I don't think even Honda says change your oil every 3000 lol. My friend has a S10 truck and he does not change his regular oil until 4000 or so haha.

The oil leak is on the front of the engine, all over. Front as in where the headers come off but not leaking right there.

Valve cover gasket wearing down? Is the oil a normal color and does the engine have normal power? And yeah, your'e cool running beyond 3k with synthetic. I've seen recommended changes at 6-8k depending on the car. Just check your manual or call a dealership to see what your interval is.

yeah it could be da valve cover. to be 100% sure buy a UV Dye n a UV lite. pour da dye where ur motor oil goes n run da car around da block to penetrate it. den get ur UV light n look 4 da green highlited dye n u'll find da problem. do it at nite tho...

Well if you're about to sell the car just wash the oil off; be careful not to get much water on electrical parts. And don't mention to the buyer that you were going 10K miles before changing the oil.

The buyer already knows about the 10k oil change and seems to be fine with it.

Yes, I am going to wash it off. The dye thing sounds good if I kept the car.
