Default No sound from stereo

hi all. I was just wondering if there was any trick installing a aftermarket stereo in a 2001 civic?

I installed a used one recently and it seems to operate fine except for there is no sound whatsoever coming out of the speakers. I know that the original stereo has some anti theft technology. Could this be part of the problem? Could it be a defective head unit? We don't know the radio code to put the original radio back in.

I've installed radios before with no problems so I am feeling pretty dumb right now. Lol

yeah I did try turning the volume up. Lol. I checked the wiring too. I used a harness and all the wires matched for an easy install or so I thought. Could there be a defective harness?

Are the speakers OK? It is not uncommon to find all 4 stock speakers blown out. Did the original stereo work before you took it out?

Also if you have a short in any one of the speaker wires, most aftermarket stereos will shut down their amplifier completely. None of the speakers will play.

It did work fine before. The old stereo was stolen but it seemed to be a pretty clean removal.

Lol. Yeah they could actually make an honest living at it if they wanted. On the brightside the cops did catch them
