Default noob here needing to know about computers?

Well I am looking at buying a 91 si hatch and my auto teacher said something about pulling up the carpet and look if the lights are blinking? I would like to know if anyone can explain better on this or even knows what he is talking about?

Your auto teacher is telling you (in a roundabout way) to check for any existing CELs. Check the dash board to see if there is a check engine light, if the light is on then there is a CEL and something is wrong with the engine. If the light is not on then there prolly is no need to check the blinking lights. However, i think that civics have a connector on the passanger side kick panel. You short the terminals on the connector and the check engine light will blink telling you the code.

Sounds good to me, he is like a guru with all imports but he is not the best at explaining things but is an awesome teacher.

My autoshop teacher was an awesome teacher as well. He was like the lead mechanic for Hyundai in the Midwest, after the dealer had unsuccessfully fixed a car 2 times, they would send him out to fix it the 3rd and final time. The one car he couldn't fix still sits in a hanger somewhere in Korea. And my advice to you as far as autoshop is to ask as many questions as you possibly can and read the text book chapters.

I wanna say 91 and older have 4 built in LEDs on the ECU for easy trouble shooting. Who has EF experience??? 92-95 you have to jumper and read the code on the CEL light on the cluster.
