Default O2 sensor

hey guys i just got back from the dealer cuz my check engine light was on. Apparently I have a faulty O2 sensor in which they want $500 to fix. I have an 04 civic ex. How hard is it to replace the o2 sensor myself?

mmm disconnect battery, unclip o2 sensor harness, use an open-ended wrench to remove sensor. Screw new sensor in, clip back in, re-connect battery, you should be good. Shops ALWAYS over-estimate, especially for o2 sensors. Just search around hte internet for an 01-05 civic o2 sensor and you should be able to do it yourself

That car has two oxygen sensors. Did they tell you which one was setting the CEL on? Make sure to replace the right one, and get the right part as they are different.

Before replacing any O2 sensor, first clear the ECU (=remove 15A fuse 6 under hood for ~1 minute and reinsert) and then drive the car to see if the CEL turns ON again. If so, drive the car to AutoZone where they will retrieve the CEL code free of charge. Post the specific CEL code if you want more feedback.
