Default oil change, where do you go or...

Where do you take your car for an oil change, or do you do it your self? What oil does the place you take it to use/what oil do you use?

I have changed my oil in every car I've owned since I started driving. Oil changes are done every 3 months or 3000 miles, whichever comes first. I use the cheapest oil available (as long is not recycled oil) and 1 quart of Lucas oil stabilizer.

Do it myself. Use a set of ramps and it is very easy to get under the car to drain it. Also you can inspect other parts for problems while you're there.

Lately I've switched to regular "classic" Mobil 1 and no additives.

I dont have a drive way so i take it to a jiffy lube around my way. What i do is buy my own oil (Mobil 1 synthetic) and pay the 20 bucks to have them swap it out for me.

I would def do it myself if i had a place to do it but such is life.

Just be aware that Wal-mart puts their filters on with an impact wrench or something. I attempted a self oil change shortly after having wally do it, and damn near had to cut my filter off. I used one of the filter tools, ended up using 2 screwdrivers driven through each side of the thing to wrench it off like it was a screw.

But on the nice side of things, they do vacuum your car for you, ha ha.

I go to Penzoil here and have them do it, they just put Penzoil in, I figure if i change it every 3k I can afford the cheaper oil.

Amsoil synthetic and Amsoil extended life filters....both of which are good for 25,000 mile change intervals. However, I confess that I have my oil and filter changed at 15,000 mile intervals....and tire rotation at 7500 miles, both of which I have done at a small, independent shop that has very reasonable prices.
