Default oil verses oil

Ok guy, what do you think the best engine oil is, and tell why you think it,s better or the best. the list is in no certain order, add more to the list if you know of some other oils that you like better and so on

The Petroleum Quality Institute of America

and at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter as long as you keep up with the intervals and use the correct viscosity.

so the petroleum quality institute of american happens to be funded by oil companies interesting. anyway the best oil you can get is AMSOIL synthetic but there expensive the next best would be Mobile1 synthetic there cheaper and can be found everywhere. if you want to dive deeper into oil quality search here ita all independent oil test.

Your link leads to the top of a huge forum. Cut to the chase and show us exactly where Bob says what oil is best and why.

I note that Bob's site has a lot of ads from oil companies too, sort of like it's being sponsored.

BITOG is uneededly intense; bottom line, I think it's difficult to quantify "Best". And even if you could, and you use super duper oil, is your civic going to last longer? Does it mean you may get another 100,000 miles out of the engine? I dont think so. Would rather spend the money on beer and not spend hours looking through BITOG!

btog is sponsored buy oil companies but the test are performed independently buy consumers like you and me not buy one laboratory like that american oil thing so there not biased. and if your to daft to look under were it says ''oil analysis test'' thats your problem im not going to spoon feed you. and yes some oil has better wear protection then others also better at reducing friction and that in fact does extend the life and performance of an engine. you are rite that changing regular dino juice at regular intervals is sustainable for your engine but doesn't deter from the fact that all oil is not of the same quality.

You essentially spend a grand over the course of 200,000mi to gain an unknown amount of life out of the engine by using the expensive oil and filters.

AMSOIL full synthetic extended life 4 quarts plus extend life filter $53 dollars
regular cheap dino juice cheap filter around 25-30 bucks.
AMSOIL synthetic extended life oil good for 10,000 miles
regular dino juice 3,000-5,000 miles
AMSOIL synthetic filter good for 10,000 miles
cheap filter good for 3,000 to 5,000 miles
i don't know you do the math doesn't seem like much of a difference price wise.

So you void your warranty to gain an unknown amount of life out of the engine by using 10,000 mi intervals. Seems dicey.

I have to agree with you, that all oils are not equal as far as wear protection goes
And all oils have to be changed on a regular basis. I always use synthetic over any other oils for there superior wear protection!
