Default Problems with '00 Civic

I am getting ready to purchase a 1999/2000 Honda Civic Si and am just wondering if anybody knows of some common problems with them. (For example the early 90's Supras are known for blowing head gaskets.) Anything like that for the 6th gen. Civics? Just wondering if theres common problems you guys may have found. Anything helps thanks!

umm not really. The only problems that I have had is my window goes up and down slow and mine isn't a Si. So as long as yours has good window motors, then not any that I can think of.

EDIT: I hope you don't plan on driving that in the winter in MN

I don't want to drive in the winter, but if I have to I will. The guy I'm buying it from is throwing in a set of winter tires so I'm guessing its already been driven in snow... If i have enough money come October, I might just buy a junker for the winter.

Really my only problem was the drivers side window coming off the track. When I finally replaced the regulator I never had this problem again.

From SPLAT's post:

Windows Bind or Come Out of the Run Channels ('96-'98 sedan)
Faulty run channels. Replace run channels if damaged. Inspect regulators and replace if damaged.

Poor Radio Reception ('99)
Center conductor in the mast antenna lead is touching the shielding. Clean the mast attaching screws or replace the mast antenna.

These are the only 2 things that ive found wrong or that are current problems with my EK but it isnt a '00 its a '98 so as long as the windows roll up well and the radio gets good reception those are the only things id add to the list of things to check for along with what these guys have posted.

Inspect closely for rust, it starts around the back wheels.

If you hear a grinding noise idling in neutral, that goes away when you press the clutch in, that's the input shaft bearing. Not a real big deal to replace it though of course the transmission has to be removed from the car.
