RE: Radar Detector
the passport ones are really good, but also really pricey...
radio shack has excellent deals on cobra detectors, and they are pretty decent also... |
RE: Radar Detector
valentine are top shelf, but try radio shack first then like walmark and then the internet(ebay)

RE: Radar Detector
I picked up a Cobra 9 series, it's sweet, has a nice range on it too, gives you plenty of time to slow down. Got it for like a 100.

RE: Radar Detector
i havent heard anything bad about cobra except the fact that they tend to malform in the heat...

RE: Radar Detector
youre supposed to take them off everytime youre not in your car, or else theyll get messed up.... Beltronics is good...

RE: Radar Detector
well ****, mine was in the heat to much, always forgot to take it out, and i just got a ticket today, 42 in a 25, i was in a hurry,(sick at my stomach) anyways, im glad he didnt get me at what i was doing about 1min b4 he clocked me...lol...
what im tryin to say is,(DONT LEAVE IT IN THE HEAT< ALWAYS TAKE IT OFF THE MOUNT AND STICK IT SOMEWHERE WHERE THE SUN WONT GET IT!!!) |
RE: Radar Detector
yea the escort passport ones are very nice. best buy sells them. but if u dont wanna spend that much, go with a cobra one.

RE: Radar Detector
All good comments, especially about not leaving your detector on the dash when the car is parked. I think it's actually the case that deforms, not the electronics, but it will still screw you up. From what I've read, and from what I've seen, Valentine will do the best for you in the fast lane. You also have to remember that LIDAR is out there, too. Fly beneath the radar, if you can. |
RE: Radar Detector
Just got home with the brand new 2007 Honda Civic EX black last night.
This morning, I hook up the radar detector. It clips on to the driver side sun visor. I hardwired it to the fuse box so it goes on when I turn the key on and goes off when I turn the key off. Since it is at the sun visor, you cannot see it from the outside so it won't get stolen (or smash windows)... I have always find that is the best position. Plastics 07 Honda Civic EX black |

ORIGINAL: jhsplaya08 yea the escort passport ones are very nice. best buy sells them. but if u dont wanna spend that much, go with a cobra one. Escort hands down does make the best. The reason being is because they manufactur the radar guns for the fuzz. |
RE: Radar Detector
actually, black box jammers are the best but ALSO illegal in several states. lol.
they jam radar signals proactively. the best ones were discontinued at the request of law enforcement. now they sell watered down versions. my former coworker has an original blackbox jammer and it works rediculously well. He's a news photographer and often tests his jammer on radar traps set up by his sheriff deputy buddies. it's crazy. and NO. you can't buy one anymore. lol. |
RE: Radar Detector
i've got a cobra, and i haven't been pulled over for speeding since i got it. don't buy one from wal-mart, because it will seem cheaper but it is a different model from the ones you get at best buy or radio shack which perform better. mine picks up lidar (i think its a 9450). just don't leave the volume on 10 all the time or you'll blow a speaker and it will sound like shiz... that's my only cobra complaint.
