Default Replace with new or used motor

I have a 96 Civic that has a lot of miles, but I would like to keep it. Are there good used motors out there for these? It is the 1.6L v tec

d16y7, d16y8, d16z6, b16's, b18's, you can put any motor in with the right mounts, or you can replace your stock motor with no fittment issues, im not the best person to answer, but just look around at other peoples builds and see what they have

I guess I may be a little confused on the engine as well. I thought it was a vtech but I don't remember seeing the vtech symbol on the engine.

If one of you says Vtech one more time, my head will explode.

Lol, its Vtec, no H. =)

There are lots of motors that will fit in your car. The cheapest and easiest replacement is to replace with the same model engine you have.
How many miles does your engine have?

I think it has about 130K. I know I need to replace the timing belt. If I have to do that and I have a motor with that many miles, some oil leaks and a roaring noise up front that might be an alternator bearing, a compressor bearing, or worse a water pump I just though it might be best to put in a low miles motor. I am hoping to drive it this summer to a soccer coaching job on the side...but it is 40 miles one way...wanted the fuel mileage!

I have removed replaced a motor in a conventional older vehicle..66 Chevy pickup, but am not sure about tackling the side mounted motor. I might have somebody do that part.

P.S....I promise to call it v-tec from this point forward!
