Rookie Question about motor swap
I'm new to the Honda stuff. I'm usually working on my Crew Cab F350 Diesel or my wife's Jeep. But now that the daughter is driving I have entered the Honda world. She has a 95 Honda Civic DX 2dr coupe 4cyl 5spd. The body has some damage. I have an opportunity to pick up a 95 Civic DX 4dr sedan for a great price. The body is in perfect shape but the motor is locked up. Will the motor from the 2dr coupe swap over to the 4dr sedan? Thanks in advance for any help.

Seems like way to much work for your daughters first car(im assuming it is). I mean she is probably going to bump into a few things anyways. But to answer your question yes, it would be a very easy swap, everything is the same. Just wondering how bad is the body damage on your daughters car? And wat is the price of the 4dr your getting?

Well the current car (the 2dr) didnt have a ding on it when I got it. In a little under a year she has backed into somebody, ran underneath a truck, clipped a pole at the gas station, and pulled out it front of someone and took a shot to the right rear wheel. So right now it needs the quarter panel behind the drivers side door repaired, new hood and front bumper cover (not bad) , new rear bumper cover (not bad) and some small body damage fixed. The 4dr I can pick up for $700.

When I bought the 95 model 2dr, I had a new timing belt, water pump, etc changed. Also completely redid the AC in it. For $700 (maybe even less) I cant hardly pass up the 4dr. Should be a fairly easy motor swap, which would be alot easier than the body work the other car needs (plus the 2dr really needs some interior work).
One other question I have is, how hard to swap in an automatic in place of the 5spd? My other daughter will be driving in a couple of years so it would be nice to have an auto tranny.

Highly sought after. I will see some on Craigslist every couple of days for around $300, but they tend to go quick. Lots of people going from stock steelies to those.
