Rust, corrosion, WTH is it??

Default Rust, corrosion, WTH is it??

Bought used '97 Civic last October. Been great. Opened to check oil today and found this.

The first one is the overflow. Have not had ANY problems with this vehicle.

Thanks for the help with the pictures. I can run half a billion dollars worth of mainframes, but not much on this forum picture stuff.

Whatever that is it can't be good....
Until you figure out what the crap is don't drive it. Its probably too dark to do it now but take the plug out of your oil pan and see if that crap is in the pan.

What is the texture of it?

It's mushy. Not hard. Light weight. The oil on the dipstick looks fine. I'm going to drain the oil to see what that looks like. I've never seen anything like that.

it looks to me as if there was a blown head gasket or something and they put something in the rad to try to stop the leak
