Default Shift **** weight? PIC bottom of page 1

O.K. I searched but was unable to find the answer I need.

Question: Is there such a thing as a shift **** that is too heavy?

I am thinking of making one and I just need to know if it needs to be between 650 and 400 grams for a reason, or if you go over is that just fine? Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance guys and girls.

All iv heard was the shift **** from a 96-00 type r was made with a little extra weight because
when you throw it in another gear it helps it grab better.
I don't know its its true or not but thats what i was told.

Basically i like my shift ***** to weigh less, cause i want to be the one doing the shifting, and i hear that a weighted one can make the shifter snap easier then a non weighted one.

So go for one around 400 grams or more like 300 grams? But stay away from one like 600 grams. Right???

I just thought that I would update this thread. I got bored at class today and started on the new ****. This is what I have so far.

I am going to hollow it out and fill in most of it with lead to get it right at 450 grams. Then weld in the nut so it will screw onto my short shifter. I am thinking of just using some gun blue on it and then sealing it.
