short shifter on a 96 ex

would installing a short shifter make a pretty big difference on a 96 civic ex? how much does it usually cost to install and would it fit the stock shift boot?

Yes, it makes a considerable difference in shifting throw, and it doesn't cost anything to install it if you diy. and yes, it fits the stock boot. what brand were you thinking of?

+1 ^

yes, it makes shifting much quicker and more fun. I also recommend polyurethane shift bushings. They're cheap, easy to install when you're down there messing with your linkage. They make a big diffrence too.

Yes. I have a double bend in my civic, they're great if you're looking to decrease shifting time. good luck!

it's not to difficult to change, makes a difference. I changed out mine for less than $50. Also good mod to do while changing the exhaust, because the mid pipe is in the way.

mine i got for 13$ shipped..and its great.

all you have to do is remove the midpipe rubber hanger, you don't have to remove the exhaust, that's just crazy.

good to know.... I plan on getting a Skunk2 double bend, and that was the one thing that worried me ;)

Sometimes the new shifter hits the exhaust a bit, but all you have to do is buy a longer rubber hanger and your set

no, just remove the shifter heat shield by removing the four bolts, or just notch the area out that the shifter is hitting it.
