Default Should I switch to synthetic?

I have a 2000 VP with 130K on the engine. I've used Castrol GTX almost exclusively, but I am considering switching to Mobil 1. I drive 100 miles everyday in both summer and winter. I change my dino every 3K. Would you change to a full synthetic? What would my change interval be with Mobil 1 - more than 3K between oil changes?

How many miles are you running before changing oil?

in my 63 bug i would change the oil every 2000-2500 miles.

honda i would say you could go 3500 on synthetic. that also depends on how you drive your car. if you're a grandma driver ya, if you put the pedal down at every stop sign, might wanna do it around 3000.

i put castrol 10w40 full synthetic oil on mine and it runs great! don't overfill your motor with oil tho... it only takes 3.5-4 quarts...

Synthetic oils are designed specifically for use in engines, conventional oil was just there in the ground and we decided to use it in engines.

I just recently switched from Penzoil high mileage (conventional), to Royal Purple (synthetic) and it sounds like its a brand new engine again (I also used Seafoam, probably a factor in its new-soundingness). Be prepared for minor leaks though. Synthetic molecules are smaller than conventional, and can go through smaller cracks than conventional.

Ran seafoam in car once at about 125k
Been running lucas oil fuel treatment every other month or so
Run synthetic oil which gets changed every 7500-10k miles

engine runs like new

"knocks on wood", no serious leaks yet, but I did have to replace the valve cover gasket that was slightly leaking oil. Other than that, working like a new car

i'm thinking about the same problem as you but i am on mobil 1 synthetic right now and its so damn expensive compare to regular oil so i might change back to regular for my next oil change and sticking with that.

but oil changes should be 5000 miles for regular oil and 7500 miles for synthetic

wow so i've been changin mine way too soon?? lol well the way that i figure it engine oil is very important. if that goes bad then it can affect other things and create a pretty pricy tag. im a pretty cautious guy i guess lol

we have an 05 civic, and we ONLY use synthetic oil in it. These engines generally last very long, so there's no real way to tell if it's 100% helping your car. One thing for sure is it can't hurt at all.
