on my 2000 d16y8, i didnt even think that was possible since it's rated for 35
maybe it's because I used shell gas for once?
how are your guys mpg experiences in comparison to mine?

 

wow 41 cool. i had 30 before. did a lot of highway driving.

 

had 39.4 once

 

My wife and I have a second home in Myrtle Beach, SC. We make the 560 mile drive down I-95 from Wilmington, DE about 5 or 6 times a year. Holding a speed between 70 and 75 mph, it is not unusual for me to get 41 mpg in our '04 LX 4-door with automatic. I love it when that happens!

 

best i got was 38mpg with my Z6 mostly highway at ruffly 75mph. Im sure i could have got better if i kept it at 65mph but i hate getting passed by the old ladies. hahahaha

 

I drive a stick and pop it into neutral a lot
I also have this habit of completely letting go of the accelerator to check to see how hard I am pressing it, then press it again lighter

For a Y8 that's great! I hit 42 in my '95 LX. I did a 300 mile drive at 55 mph... I had a bad tire, anything over that and the steering would start to vibrate. It was not fun...

 

o ya im always poping it in nuetral and coasting or just pressen in the clutch and roll for awhile....

my friends starting to drive a stick and she said her dad tells her to always downshift.... im like I NEVER downshift! well not all the time. but i only downshift if there is snow/ice on the roads....
i keep telling her you dont have to downshift all the time.... and her dad said its bad for the transmition..... and i keep telling how is nuetral gonna hurt a tranny.... LOL maybe a automatic i could see it damaging the internal fins in the converter but not a manual.

all i know is ive NEVER had any problems driving a stick and poping it in nuetral!

 

i get 45mpg cruising 70 mph interstate.

had a full tank, drove 360 miles and put 8 gallons back in car = 45 mpg.
