So what exactly did I buy?
Hey guys new here, just bought a civic off my buddy for pretty cheap low km body in great shape so what the heck why not. He bought it off a guy who claims its an si, I was doing some research and I think it may be an ex. From my understanding theres not to to much differences between the two for the 97 model is there? I understand that the ex has SOHC vtec or am I wrong? well here are some pictures any help would greatly be appreaciated.. also my tires rub pretty bad, even when im the only one in the car, i took out my sub and they still rub, the tires are 215/45/17 on stock suspension, that shouldnt be happening should it?

No Si ever came factory that color. That is a common EX color.
Yes the EX is a SOHC and the Si is a DOHC.
I'd say most likely EX, doubt anyone would ever paint their Si a factory EX color.

As far as having an Si or an Si-R, I'd say you have an Si. It's an Si color like Kev pointed out, and it has the badges. If you could get a picture of the engine I could tell you for sure (or of the gauges. Or both).
As far as the rubbing, it's the tire size. 215mm is too wide of a treadwidth, and combined with the too-tall 45 aspect ratio, the tire size is just plain wrong. If you want to keep the 17's, find some 205/40-17 tires and you shouldn't have as bad of rubbing problems (I can't promise anything without knowing how low you are and what your wheels offset is).

thanks for the quick responses guys, my friend was told it was just painted that colour last year i can tell it looks pretty new no dents or scratches for a 97 it must have been. and ill take a pic of the engine bay, the gauges are aftermarket so i dont think you can see anything from there. but yeah i had these rims on my integra and it rubbed a bit just not as much maybe the suspension is worse on this car then my other one, the suspension is stock on this car as so it was on my other though..

ahhhh i didnt know it was a Canadian civic so then first post is completely thrown out the window.
YES it is a Si in Canada (same as United States EX) and it is NOT a Si-R (same as United States Si)
