Default Sport Compact Performance.

I went looking for the book Sac was talking about the other day (How to make Honda Horsepower) and couldn't find it. I did however, pick up a book from Haynes called "Sport Compact Performance." I don't know if anyone has had the privilege to read this masterpiece but I thought I would share a couple of excerpts.

From Cold Air Iintakes...
"Aside from the power boost, aftermarket intakes just look cool! Since they are available in a variety of flashy finishes...they make the most popwerful statement that your engine is 'modified.' When the tube is made of aluminum or stainless and is polished, the 'wow' factor is upped considerably..."

From "Valvetrain" concerning Cam gears...
"... in order for anyone to see your cool cam gears you have to leave off the timing belt cover (at least the upper cover). The people can not only see the gears, but, when the engine is running and you can see them spinning, it gives at least the impression of an extra 30 Horsepower!!"

Direct quotes. I kid you not.

Anybody wanna buy a book?

ISnt it bad to leave your cam gear exposed?

I like something like this if you must expose them

Umm, yeah...

I just got the "Haynes Xtreme Customizing Honda Civic" book (guy was selling it along with the regular Haynes repair manual, so I figured I would take it). It's essentially a 200 page full color rice gallery. I was not impressed. And all the directions say something like "make sure you get help from a friend who has done this before." gee thanks!

I'd post quotes but the book is out in my car right now.

Yeah, there is some decent information in there, but they don't need to be planting those rice ideas in the head of newbies.

I think they are more for people who don't have complete access to the internet, like *a few* of the users on HCF!!! I mean, all the information you find in those books could be found on the internet on a forum or by Google-ing it. Aside from a couple of the step-by-steps in the books, they aren't much help cuz of the almighty internet. THIS BOOK has been more help than any other I have found!!!
