what kinda civic you have? Also posting this in the transmission or other civic talk section might provide you with better feedback

i have a 1997 lx sedan - automatic transmission. i love the car. i love shifting with it too haha, its very smooth actually, but ****, its slow as crap. like what? 106 horsepower?

anyways my dad's mid-life crisis bmw is fast as ****. so freaking nice.

im talking about a red light situation. what do i do, with the cluth, accelerator to start of fast, but smooth. like spin my tires but not burn out or anything. im sorta new at stick shifting...

and i'll add this to the other one, thanks for the recomendation.

don't repost this in another forum, I'll just move it

you don't have a clutch, you drive an automatic. you won't be able to do a proper launch, and you'll never catch the BMW off the line.

The best way is to practice... if I were your dad, I wouldn't let you practice on my BMW... but some dads are different. LOL... what I do is get to a nice RPM range (3k or so) then smoothly dump the clutch... it takes some practice... 'cause you have to learn how to smoothly transition from stop to go... while I'm dropping the clutch, I hit the accellerator more at the same time... so, as the clutch is coming out... the accellerator is going down.
