Stick or Auto?
yea yea yea but when an Auto tranny breaks it's catastrophic failure, not to mention that ATF goes all over the place. If a manual breaks usually it's one gear (or the synchro ring) that breaks and it's still possible to drive, just as long as you skip the bad gear. The clutch, on the other hand...
If you think it's a workout to drive the Civic 5 speed in traffic, think again. The Civic has a hydraulic clutch, and it requires almost no effort to push. Try stop and go traffic in an old Ford Explorer. It has a heavy, cable-drawn clutch that requires a significant effort to push. That will tire you out faster than you can say Charlie Horse!
You need not smoke while driving. Secondhand smoke goes a long way, and it pet peeves me when someone ahead is puffing a joint that is putting out more smoke than a bonfire and guess where it all goes! You're just asking for a rude ricing flyby!
If you can't handle an auto with one hand, try munching on snack food while driving a 5 speed and precariously balancing a drink cup between your legs! It's not easy, but if you time your munchings inbetween shiftings without spilling the root beer, you can do it.
Oftentimes I have found myself hitting the floorboard whilst braking because I meant to push the Clutch, but I'm driving an Auto and there is no Clutch. I almost shifted the Auto shifter a few times too, thinking of pulling into gear 2 and the like.
Do note that since the dawn of time, every racing game I have played I choose (or chose) the manual transmission when everyone around me chooses (or chose) the auto. Might have something to do with it, I dunno.
