Default Thinking about switching full synthetic oil

Time is coming for me to change the oil in my car and i need some opinions on switching to full synthetic. I seriously doubt that my car which is at 117k has every had anything but dino oil in it. I personally haven't changed a car that i owned from dino oil to full synthetic but i had a car that only have full synthetic oil all its life (required for high performance turbo cars). My question is should i change the type of oil even though the car has alot of miles on it? Also should i get a engine flush when i change over? What weight should i use, i live in michigan so 10-30 degrees in winter and 80-90 degrees in summer? Any info is more than welcome.

huh, I hope you don't have to do anything special, I put all synthetic in mine and I think it was all dino when I got it.

I put 10w-30 in mine. I live near Rochester, NY. So we got pretty close to the same weather. But that was for winter, I dunno if going to 10w-40 for the summr would be better.

the best full syn that i have found is redline oil its the **** also royal purpel is good but i dont like it because it alwas looks dirty but thoes are the only 2 true full syn oils that i know of
they past a law years ago that oil companys could claim full syn as long if it was like 40-60% or somthing like that its been awhile
also mobil 1 is good syn or regular that would be my second coice
also winter i would run 5-30 or 10-30 in the summer i always run 10w40

I dont see the need to go full synthetic, just add that lucas stuff. If you really want to go for it then just flush the motor and start using it. Its pricey though. I use Royal Purple, but i wish i didnt have to spend 6$ a quart on the stuff.

See i dont mind paying extra cash for oil changes. I just want to have a damn good oil that doesnt break down as fast and lubs up the engine quick. The oil i have in it now (cant remember the name) takes forever to lub up the engine in the cold, i have to sit and wait for a couple of minutes to let the engine warm up or i start to get ticks in the lifters. BTW my engine also burns oil so if i can get some kind of oil that doesnt burn off that would be great. Any other good brands out there?

oh, if you burn oil with dino oil, dont bother switching to synthetic. it will leak/blowby tenfold as much as dino oil. i would just start using a high mileage oil. maybe a little thicker viscocity. oh, and civics dont have hydraulic lifters, so thats not what the noise is. its probably that you need your valve lash adjusted.

Well it doesn't burn that bad, something like 1/2 or 3/4 of a quart every 3-4k. Im probably go with high mileage oil sacs, i completely forgot about that stuff. What brand and weight you think? Maybe 10w30 for winter then 10w40 for summer like everyone else.

syn does not break down nearly as quick as regular oil so if you change your oil evey 3k or so with redline you should only have to chane every 6k or so so it works out to be about the same cost and you dont have to do it twice and better for you motor also if you are driving the **** out of it syn realy helps but if you dont race it or drive hard and dont want to spend the $$ i would just go with mobil1 and a litel bit of lucas would prob help to

btw do not use engine flush or pore an extra qurt threw or anything ele it does more harm than good if yor oil is that nasty the best think do is do a filter and oil change with like drive clean or cheap oil drive it for a few miles and change it agian,
