ok i went to discount tire yesterday and checked out these drag dr-23 i don't get why they were sellin them to me at $100 each wheel and with the tires the total turned out bein a little over $1000. is that too much? on dicounttiredirect.com they're $95 each. oh they're 15in by the way. i went in wantin 16in but then came out wantin 15in... now i'm not so sure what size i want?

jprommel 04-13-2010 12:25 PM

why not just buy online? its cheaper and they have some free shipping deal thing going on now

Forty04 04-14-2010 03:05 AM

Yes, shop around on tirerack.com and treadepot.com to see if you can find any better deals. Both businesses are forum vendors, and I know for a fact Tread Depot is willing to work with HCF members on tire deals.

theblackpearl 04-14-2010 10:15 AM

yes, discount tire is always pricey, but they're always willing to drop the price way down if you know how to haggle/negotiate

...NEED4SPEED... 04-14-2010 12:20 PM

so wat should i say? i found dem cheaper online? i found dem on ebay a long while ago and were more expensive. btw i got into an accident dis past monday night, some idiot's bike came off da rack and i ended up runnin over it. now my looks like nothin...

theblackpearl 04-14-2010 12:24 PM

that's what i did at first. they have internet there so i had them look up the prices and made them beat it. got them to throw in free mount and balance since it's free if you buy both wheel and tire from them online or from tirerack or most other companies.

but now, i usually just say hook me up with a great deal since i've gotten so many from them, on my last snow tire purchase i got them to bring down the price 95 dollars from 520 to 425 for my s2k

...NEED4SPEED... 04-14-2010 12:28 PM

i mean my car looks like nothin happened but if u look close on the bumper it broke off da screw on both ends, lost my splash guard behind my front left wheel, 3 of my wheels got bent, my oil pan dented, and scratches on the bumper and hood.

...NEED4SPEED... 04-14-2010 12:38 PM

i'll do that next time i go to purchase the rims. for now since i got that guy's insurance, i'll try to get money for the wheels instead of havin them replaced to help me get the wheels i want. i'll look in tirerack.com also...

All I've used for tires is discounttiredirect.com, everything I've seen on their site is cheaper than tire rack, plus tire rack charges for shipping.

But $100 for a rimx4=$400. What tires are you trying to get that cost you a ridiculous $600 for a set?

discount tire direct has those 15" rims at $95 a piece, but you get $50 off from a set, so it's $330 for a set. Tires shouldn't be more than $100 a piece, plus some of their tires you get $50 off.

...NEED4SPEED... 04-14-2010 01:27 PM

i don't even know... but i saw that each tire cost $92... with those its still under $400... i really dont think the guy knew wat he was talkin about... i like yokohama tires. but wat size wheels are better? 15's or 16's?

NIKE H34D 04-14-2010 07:44 PM

15 is better obviously but both work, if your car is stock height they will both look dumb.

...NEED4SPEED... 04-14-2010 08:32 PM

i'm plannin to drop my car 2in with a skunk2 full coilover kit and install skunk2 camber kits. but wat size tires are best on 15's n on the 16's?

don't forget, if you go in and talk to them, they'll automatically try to get as much money out of you as they can. which means charging for mount and balance at 15 a pop and insurance at 10-20 each and disposal fee and tax and whatever other fees.

with a little haggling, you'll easily get the mount for free, sometimes i get one free replacement for free, and a decent discount on each wheel and tire along with their usual instant rebates

trustdestruction 04-15-2010 12:03 AM

You're doing something wrong. I bought those same 15" wheels (different color) from discounttiredirect.com with tires for $580. Would have been only a little more if I opted for their "install kit" and the tire warranties.

What tires are you trying to buy?

...NEED4SPEED... 04-15-2010 03:38 AM

i was thinkin yokohama tires... but wat size do u suggest trust for 15's?

Forty04 04-15-2010 03:43 AM

Use the link below to calculate the correct tire size for your vehicle.

195/50/15

I just replaced my Yokohama AVID T4s with Kumhos. The Yokos at a tread life of 60,000 miles but only lasted 40,000 with extremely moderate driving (no hard corning, burnouts, etc). I just bought some Kumho Ecsta LX Platinums, and I love them so far. In fact, my father has the same Kumhos as I have now on his Saab 9-5, and they have lasted 61,000 miles so far. So just a heads up if you are really set on buying Yokohamas.

...NEED4SPEED... 04-15-2010 11:01 AM

ah alright trust... i knew 195's were the right width... the guy from discount said 205/50R15...
and 99lx i got kumhos on now and been havin them for a year and no problems yet... only that i had a flat this past monday... but yeah.

i just got home from the shop where my car is now and they said they're givin me around 570 bucks for the hood since it has to be replaced and the insurance doesn't cover it since it has a slight dent that wasn't caused by the accident.

trustdestruction 04-15-2010 11:13 AM

Yea, 205 is not the right size.

...NEED4SPEED... 04-15-2010 11:26 AM

i'm on discounttiredirect.com and the out the door price for the wheels with 195/50r15 size tires is $718.39...

trustdestruction 04-15-2010 02:18 PM

It's because your tires are $92 a piece. My tires were only like $70 a piece. That's $88 more just because of the tires you picked. You also probably left those "tire certificates" in your shopping cart too. I didn't buy those, I deleted them from my cart. I also didn't buy their lug nuts that auto-add to the shopping cart, they are ugly chrome ones... they're also the long ones so they will look weird on DR-23's.

Do you seriously suck that bad at math that you can't figure this out for yourself (like the tires and ****)?

...NEED4SPEED... 04-15-2010 02:53 PM

lol... no i just looked it up quick because i had to go to work... so wat tires did u get trust? does it really matter wat brand u get?

trustdestruction 04-15-2010 02:57 PM

It's all personal preference. I wanted Falken, so I bought Falken. The 512's I got were pretty cheap. If you go with Falken though get 912 not 512.

...NEED4SPEED... 04-15-2010 04:01 PM

sorry to ask such a dumb question but wat are 512's and 912's

...NEED4SPEED... 04-15-2010 04:07 PM

wait nevermind... i was day dreamin here... i got u... lol. and thanx trust

theblackpearl 04-15-2010 09:52 PM

if it's your daily driver and you live in a place with a crap ton of potholes, i'd recommend that you keep the certificates. i've used them so many times that i saved a ton of money

...NEED4SPEED... 04-16-2010 08:34 AM

i'm good without the certificates... hey trust where do u recommend me to buy the lug nuts for the wheels?

trustdestruction 04-16-2010 12:01 PM

What kind of lug nuts do you like? Do you like the traditional hex style lugs, or do you like the funky shaped lugs (like muteki)?

And how much are you willing to spend?

Buying a nice pair of lug nuts can get expensive.

...NEED4SPEED... 04-16-2010 03:08 PM

i'm not picky... i just want them to look nice on the wheels... nothing funky. some good black colored ones to match would be nice...

...NEED4SPEED... 04-16-2010 03:23 PM

oh btw trust... the tires would be the same size (195/50) for a 7in wide wheel same as the 6.5in right?

trustdestruction 04-16-2010 04:52 PM

I'm pretty sure a 195 will fit on a 7 inch wheel but you might want to go 205/45/15 for that. With 7 inch wide wheels you gotta make sure the offset is exactly how you want it though because once you get into 205's is when you start worrying about rubbing. Are you lowered?

I would just get 6.5" wide and 195/50 if I were you though. Or 195/50 if it fits on 7".

And you never answered my other question about the lug nuts...

...NEED4SPEED... 04-16-2010 08:32 PM

which one? on the price range i'm willin to spend? what price do they range from? i don't want lug nuts that look funky... it gotta at least be decent. and the tire sizing i can ask in discount tire or read on procivic.com but i'm thinkin 195/50's but i wanna make sure...

trustdestruction 04-16-2010 08:35 PM

yea the price range man...

lug nuts run from dirt cheap all the way to $200 +

The dirt cheap ones are the crappy no-name ones... the cheapest I would ever buy are the Muteki lugs, which are ~$50 on ebay, but they look funny. The cheapest aftermarket black hex lugs I know of are the Mugen ones at ~$100. I have black Rays lugs, which were about $130. I was really determined to get black ones in the style I wanted and that was how much I had to spend to do so.

check out this site for lots of lug selection:
http://inlinefour.com/lugnutsstuds.html

If you like either of these colors, these lugs are a pretty good deal
http://inlinefour.com/ligraclug.html

i'd recommend these but they're out of stock... they look very similar to my Rays lugs
http://inlinefour.com/il4peralugnu.html

...NEED4SPEED... 04-16-2010 08:40 PM

dang it! i wanna have lugs that are black, and round.. no wierd shapes or watever... u got any links to some bro?

trustdestruction 04-16-2010 08:45 PM

Oh and here's the mugen ones:

I think these are also a pretty good deal...
1. they're Mugen
2. they look good
3. they're cheaper than the other brands... and they're Mugen... which is surprising

hey thanks... i'll take a look at all the links... i'll let u knw... btw the reason i asked about the tire size on a 7in wide wheel is because i was thinkin about the drag dr-16 also and they're 7in wide...

...NEED4SPEED... 04-17-2010 07:07 AM

i like the lip...

...NEED4SPEED... 04-19-2010 01:55 AM

bump?

NIKE H34D 04-19-2010 07:14 AM
