Trading bumpers for body kit?
Don't waste your time with a body kit. There's a reason your friend doesn't want it. It's probably...wait, I am 99% sure that's ugly.
If you are really into body kit.... like I was when I was 15, buy some cheap replica bumpers, give them to your buddy for the kit, and keep your stock ones.

I'm with pretty much everyone else; stick with the stock bumpers. When I was 16, I was into body kits (man I was a huge ricer back in the day 
). Bought an R34 kit, but luckily had the sense to keep the stock bumpers. A year or so later, I ended up making a deal with this guy: I modified the front/rear bumpers to give them some cleaner lines, and he gave me $100 and his stock bumpers/skirts. In the end, it cost me around $95 to do all the fiberglassing and to primer the kit, but it was a huge deal on my end for getting an extra set of OEM bumpers in addition to the ones I had.
If you're like me and you like to be able to make subtle changes to the look of your car in an hour or less every so often to keep things fresh, here's the idea I was going to use with my old civic (sold it before I got around to it, unfortunately):
Buy at least another OEM front bumper. Then buy some different front lips: mugen, type-R, spoon, what have you (I don't know what year you have or I'd go into more detail with the available lips for your car). Then put a different lip on each bumper and get everything painted. Then if you want to change up the front end of your car, it takes about 10 minutes and only involves taking 7 screws out. That is, of course, if you have the room to store an extra front bumper or two lol
