Default tranny compatability

Hello, I have a 1996 honda civic ex and I was wondering if a 1995 civic ex tranny will fit in place of the 1996 tranny. My tranny is grinding and I have a 1995 tranny laying around. Please let me know if they are compatible.

are you sure it's the tranny and has nothing to do with the clutch? (I'm assuming it's a 5spd lol)

I'm sure it's not the clutch, just replaced it. Thanks for the post though.

Im pretty sure it will work. Someone correct me if Im wrong, but I believe "most" D-series Tranny's work on D-series motors. Im not sure if "all" D-series trannys are interchangable or not?!?

Any tranny from a 92-00 civic will work on your motor, except the 99-00 Civic SI, because they have the B16 motor.
