Troubles
I am having trouble understanding just
what is under my hood.
I have a 1999 Honda Civic EX
(Only thing I can tell that's different
from the LX is that I have a CD player
and no power windows and the LX has
power windows and no CD player)
So, anyway.. it's a stock, 1999 Honda
Civic EX. What kind of engine do I have
and how many horses is expected?
I can get a picture or two if need be of
under the hood if that helps any... Thanks.

RE: Troubles
Alrighty, I'll do that...
Let me get out the digi cam...
I can tell you I have these:
Power locks
CD Player
...windshield wipers?
Well, this Civic is actually a hand me down, since
my Dad bought a Pilot and he gave me the Civic.
When he bought it, they didn't put a badge on it, it
is supposedly supposed to be sort of a mix between
EX and DX as far as accessories go. Let me go make
some pictures... will be cool to make a photo album
also, I suppose.

RE: Troubles
ok. i hate to tell you this, but youve got a DX. thats a non-vtec D16y7. not a bad motor, but not hardly worth dealing with. look into swapping in at least a D16Y8 for the added power of VTEC, then start looking into turbos and suck. but honestly, power adders arent what you need right now. first thing to do is to find an auto-x event near you and start getting some experience driving hard in a controlled enviroment. then do a few brake upgrades, suspension upgrades, and wheel and tire upgrades. if you just put a bunch of power into an otherwise stock civic, your asking for problems. you will be able to get to speeds that car was never intended to go. or stop from

RE: Troubles
Wow... well, I have a DX then...
So, swap to the D16Y8? How much do those go for?
Then, from that, before I start doing turbos and all
this performance stuff, I should work on my suspension,
brakes and other very important handling stuff?
So, to get this car to a 250 HP safe-speeding machine,
what all am I going to need and how much do you think
it will cost?
Stomach is already starting to swell.. ::weeps::
