TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results - Honda Civic
I conduct reliability research, and I've posted the latest results of TrueDelta's reliability survey to the site. These are for the year ending March 31, 2007. (CR currently provides results through March 31, 2006, making their data a year older.)
For the 2006 Honda Civic I have an average of 6.6 months of data on 40 cars. The stat of 41 successful repair trips per year per 100 cars (0.4 per car) is a bit better than the average for a 2006 model. When I first started posting results six months ago, the repair rate was about twice as high. Some of the change could be from the small sample size, but I also suspect that the Civic launched with a number of minor issues and Honda made running changes to fix them. I've seen this happen with a few redesigned models already, high repair rates at first then substantial improvement.
Next results in August. There should be a larger sample and a more precise result then, and perhaps other model years as well (depending on how many owners sign up and participate). Currently there are 293 Civic owners signed up to participate, but that's for all model years.

Up to 326 now for all years. I haven't been planning to collect data on years before 1998, but there are 25 1997 Civicowners signed up to participate. Might go ahead and see what the resulting data looks like.

Up to 359 for all years. 400 soon? More participants would certainly be helpful.

Latest results next month. I'm currently two responses short of the minimum with the 2002 Civic, and a few other years also aren't quite there. So more participants would certainly help.

Total of 384 Civics now enrolled. Even so, the 2002 will barely make it into the asterisked results, andmost other model years won't make it at all.So more would still be helpful.

In response to requests, I've added a Common Auto Repairs Database (CARDb) to the site.
Currently it's just possible to add common repairs to the database. When the database has been populated, owners will be asked to report whether or not their car has actually had these problems. So we can find out how common "common repairs" actually are.
My su****ion: usually less common than people think.
The form includes a field for a forum thread URL, so people can be directed here for thorough discussions if there is a thread discussing the repair.

Next update in February. Currently 419 Honda Civic owners are signed up to help out. A good number, but more would be better.
