Throwing a A.E.M. short ram intake on my 97 civic lx.


Any thoughts/tips or tricks on what i should do next?
Headers? exhaust?

 

I would stop throwing money at it. The intake isn't going to make any noticeable power, especially on a y7 motor (assuming that is what you have in there).

Figure out a budget, power goal, and go from there. If you ever go turbo, the intake would have been a waste of money since the intercooler piping would replace it. If you want a louder, flashy daily driver, I would continue with the header and exhaust mods. It is only going to make noise.

 

Putting a short ram intake on the restrictive DX/LX throttle body and manifold was kind of a waste of money. You could work toward converting to a full EX, i.e. EX intake manifold, EX style exhaust, and finally VTEC head. That's good for only a few hp though. If you really want to go faster, like cvcrcr said, save your money toward swapping the whole powertrain out to a different type.

 

yeah with my motor theres really only so much you can do, im just looking to give it a bit more zip and a little more noise, nothing special.

I know that ultimately if i want speed and more power a swap is the only way go.
This is the first car i have put any mods into so im trying to keep it basic until i become a little more knowledgeable about this kind of stuff, hence why im here.

Thanks for the input guys, i already got the intake so ill just keep that on until i can save the money to go towards the EX conversion.
