vss sensor

does anybody know if the vss sensor is bad can it be replaced for free under the emissions warranty?

its the speed sensor on your trans you can buy the part at a part store and install it, its only like 25$

it was just a question. why should I have to pay when it would be covered under the warranty.

It's not going to be covered under the emissions warranty.

If your car is indeed a 1996, it had an 8 year/ 80,000 mile emissions warranty, which would have expired in 2004 or sooner.

At some point the federal requirements were lessened so the mandatory emissions warranty is now only 5 years on a few major parts (e.g. catalytic converter) and 2 years on about everything else.

Because it's not an emissions component. It'd be covered under a standard bumper-to-bumper warranty, maybe even a powertrain warranty, but not an emissions warranty.

well I will dig into it and let you know.

here is some info for you guys and my car is included in this because I got the free tune up a year ago. but I have heard it is an emissions component because the car won't pass inspection if the speedometer is not functioning correctly and could effect the running of the engine and hence the emissions. this settlement below extends the emissions warranty to 14 years and 150,000 miles.

are you cheap or something..damn its 25 bucks, why make a hassle out of this?
you can have this fixed in less than 10 mins

also he works at a dealership thats how he knows,
