On my Si, stock the Vtec hits at 6k. I have a vtec controller so I set it a bit lower than that (5500). Thats for around town driving. And yes I can hear it and feel it.

In my stepdads commuter..(95ex) I didnt hear or feel the Vtec really. Does anyone know why that might be? Just a less powerful vtec or something?

It's said to be more noticable in DOHC engines than SOHC.

I've got a vtec light (a little ricey I'll admit, but it amazes all my friends, and I wanted to see exactly when it kicks in), and mine kicks in right around 5300-5400.

It's just a little LED that I installed myself. Real simple installation, supplies cost me like $3 from Radioshack. I'll take a pic of it for you guys when I get a chance.

It's just above 3500 rpm on the tach. I know it may seem ricey, but it can actually be helpful. I know exactly where I am rpm wise without have to look down at the tach when it comes on.
