how can i tell if my 1998 Honda civic ex is a vtec. i cant seem to find it anywhere.

 

all ex are vtec

 

thanks but i found it out. the manual says the ex's made in canada are non vtec and the ones made in the us are vtec.

im not in canada but thats apparently where the car came from. All the gauges are us though. Its really weird how that works.

 

EX's(pre 8th gen) Sold in Canada were non-vtec, just cause they were made in Canada doesn't mean they aren't vtec.

 

Are 08 LX VTEC?

 

Yes the R18A1 is a i-Vtec motor

since this thread is made already i may as well ask! so i am new at cars and stuff so forgive me.
i have a auto 99 ex. so does it have vtec? it is the d16y8 engine. i have seen the "solenoid". but now i don't think i have vtec. why?
many of my friends have hondas .. vtec .. and when their vtec kicks in its nuts yea .. i know you can hear the vtec kick in. mine never kicks in .. it does not rev harder, get louder, etc. no RPM jump after 5.5k
so either i have no vtec, the SOHC is much less noticeable than the DOHCs, or its just like that? let me know thanks in advance ^^
