Hello all, I'm looking at another civic now and am wondering if someone could help me verify the engine type. I want a VTEC engine! The car VIN is 1HGEJ7126WL018801. Can one of you experts here tell me if this is a VTEC ?

Look closer, it is a VTEC-E. It is the one that comes in the HX models. That engine is tuned for economy, not performance. It still has the VTEC technology. It all depends on what you want out of the car though.

Well, I haven't looked at it for a while, so I may be wrong(by a little). From what I remember it is still faster than a non VTEC, only more economical when not pushing it. My car came with 127 HP on the stock motor and I think the VTEC-E came with 116 HP. If you are looking for a sporty engine I would look for either an EX model or an Si. the Si will have 160 HP I think since it is VTEC and DOHC. Hope this helps,.. sorry for bursting your bubble. I just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting yourself into. Also I have heard,... you know what that means right,... I have heard the automatic trannys that came with the HX are not all that great. You are looking at a manual so you should be fine if you decide on it.
