Damn how does that vtec sound change so much? Is that acuras vtec much better then a civic or prelude? Maybe its just cause the hood is up and its being heard from outside the car.
Have you heard a prelude's vtec crossover? It sounds sexier than a B-series crossover.

And Acura's vtec is louder because Integras have B-series engines, which are twin-cam, as opposed to our single cams. The crossover is a lot louder on twin cams than it is singles.
Actually I have. I drive a 99 prelude, haha. I took a clip of what it sounds like while Im driving.

What a wonderful sound, haha.

On the 05 EX, your VTEC kicks in at 4500 rpms. Without at least an intake, it's almost impossible to hear the exact moment of changeover on a D17. If you drove an LX versus an EX back to back, you'd probabaly feel the difference in top end.

what sort of motor are you running?? is this manual or atuto tranny? dohc vtec normally kicks in at 5800rpm while for the auto hitting at 4500rpm.. mind checking what type of ECU you use? probably it's rechipped previously .

This what my Japanese Mechanic also told me. That My Si Vtec kicks in at 5,000 Rpm. This mechanic is real good he only does work on Acura's and Honda's. He is actually way better than any mechanic compare to my local Honda dealer. This guy is awesome
