My friend has an GTi, and says his car will smoke my 00 Si. His car is a 2.0. I told him he has no chance. Please back me up guys,

 

What year is that Golf. It must be an older model, cuz new GTi models are only 1.8turbo. If it is 1.8turbo than it will definatly smoke u if it is just a regular 2.0 v8 than it does't stand a chance. If both cars are stock ofcourse.

 

its a 98 I think, older body style. He's an idiot I guess

not that i am promoting street racing, but if you were to race him, make sure its at least a quarter mile. veedubs are really torquey and he might have you off the line, but the dohc vtec will pull him down and eat him.

 

as a veedub owner, I'll also have to say that those cars are torqy (thats a VW signature). My jetta is also a 2.0, and that car is not that fast at all. SI could beat it easily.

 

i have 99 si and i can beat golf's no problem. the only ones that give me trouble are the VR6 (obviously) and the 1.8T. Other than that, my car can beat the rest. BTW, have you guys seen the new Golf? Goto veedub UK and you will see the new design. Personally, I think it sucks. I prefer the pre 99 ones. I was gonna buy a golf but they came out with the new design and i immediately went to honda and bought the si instead.

Anyway, I got spanked by a brand new, completely stock VW Jetta GLI 1.8 Turbo (180 hp/180 ft lbs)

yeah a 1.8t will kill your Si, the older n/a versions... you got a good chance.

I didn't mean V8 I ment 8valves in 2.0 engines in VW. I should of wrote 8V sorry.
