Arrow What is this?

I have some sort of build up in the bed of my trunk. I'm not sure what it is. I know it's not rust. This stuff turns white after a while if left alone. The first time i cleaned it up there was a lot more than this. And i was sure not to scrape too hard because it was eroding what it comes in contact with. Has anybody every had any related problems? Is ther anything i can treat the area with to neutralize the spread or stop it all together? what should i do?

Mold? Was your car every submerged in a lake? Or perhaps it was in a flood and the previous owner never reported it?

can mold corrode metal? definitely must have an acidic property. mix some baking soda and water together and douche your trunk out. maybe the base of the baking soda will neutralize the acidic property of the "herpes" in ur trunk...

I never washed it out with anything i just vacumed that **** out. I noticed little bits of pieces of metal coming up with it the harder i scraped with the vacume hose. Maybe i try some baking soda and water. Somebody else told me that as well.
