I think it's the d16z6...yes, it does have vtec

you should be able to see the engine code on the engine block..then, just look it up here:

RE: what engine

Hm, I really don't know...But if your're REALLY wanting to get the most out of it, boost it.
Or do an engine swap.
Then boost it.

RE: what engine

im most likley gonna boost the engine it has do u think i sould it has 180,000 miles but if i do boost it i need someone to tell me if i can get all the parts for like $1000 i can install it and everything myself but anyway i just bought it and sold my 89 hatchback so anyone that can help me decide on what to do it will be much appreciated

RE: what engine

I probably wouldn't boost it with that much wear on the engine...unless you rebuild it...then, it'll be as good as new...
and,
I wouldn't waste my money on a $1000 turbo kit...it probably wouldn't be as reliable as one the costs about 3-4k...I've heard about cheap ones that crack, or just fall apart while driving...so, in this case, more expensive=better quality.

RE: what engine

cool cool how much do u think it would be to rebuild?

Do a compression test. If all the cylinders are within 10% of each other, you're fine to boost away. And you can piece together a custom turbo kit for less than $1000. And I've heard that H-series throttle bodies are just as good as, if not better than, aftermarket.
