Default What Engine is better?

B16a2? D16y8?

D16y8 has 127hp with 111lbs of torque. Redlining at 7200 RPM

B16a2 has 160 hp with 118lbs of torque. Redlining at 7600 RPM

The B16 has a lot more power to it..
Worth spending the extra to buy a 00 Civic SiR and get the B16
or
Buy a 00 Civic Si and get the D16y8

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it does, he lives in Canada (you can tell because he mentioned the SiR).

For 96-00 Civics (I'm not sure of the trim level equivalents for other years)
Canadian Si = USDM EX
Canadian SiR = USDM Si

Depends how much more it costs... the B16A2 is nearly just as mediocre as a D16Y8. If you plan on leaving it stock or modifying it but only for a little bit extra power, get the SiR. If you want to modify it to gain a lot of power, I would get the D16Y8, because you can put the money you save over getting the SiR to buy the turbo kit or whatever you plan on using to gain power.

ooo ok i didnt know he was in canada..
you can buy the sir with the b16
or if you want power buy the si and swap the d16y8 engine to something like a b18c1
or just boost the d16y8 it all depends on what you find and how much..

DC Sports 4-into-1 Header

What's your power goal? You'd probably have ~175 HP at the crank with I/H/E on a b16 (really rough estimate)
