i'm confused red2000si, because after i read SovXietday thread with his d series, it seems like he had a lot more internal upgrades and a turbo kit and he is still only hitting about 300hp.

so logically, i don't understand how just two internal upgrades and a turbo can get a civic up to 400hp

is this only considering the vtec engines, because i have the d16y7, so will the same upgrades work for me too? and what site would i go to for the pistons, rods, and turbo for that price?

sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn as much as i can

Theblackperak, your y7 head is your weak point from what Ive read. If you got a y8 or better flowing d series head you could build your block with vitara pistons and tuner toys rods for around $400, of course there a few $100 in miscellaneous parts you'll need but for fairly cheaply you would have a very strong block capable of making some crazy power. Ive seenVERY low budget d series builds makeover 400whp. Obviously you will have to put together a turbo setup that will create the power which can be the expensive part when you trying to make that kind of power.

the y7's rods and oiling are the main problems. that's why it's best to start with a z6 or y8(maybe).

best place is the junkyard, and just look around because shipping one of those bad boys will be painful.

i would say use the local yellow pages and call ur local junkyard to see if they have any... becasue goin to each individual junkyard and looking around could take forever and if u do find a car tht has teh y8 or z6 head most likly someone else already took the parts off. so calling around would be better
