Can anyone tell me about ECU on a 97 civic hx and does it have self diagnostics or do you need a reader. I'm used to GM's and I'm trying to help a friend of mine learn about her vehicle. Any help / info would be really appreciated. Thanx

 

theres a 2-wire connector by the ecu wires (may be a rubber thing holding it). put a wire in there to connect both sides, then turn the key to "ON". the CEL will blink out the code. then look it up online or in a manual.

 

Is that the same one you jump to set the timing?
