ok ok I will get smoked. but I dont think many stock 4 bangers break the 100 mile an hour in the 1/4.... I may have been overzelous about the performance of my civic but still love it. It looks hot and rides nice awesome stereo and every available option. I just left on a long trip and i really found the car to have adequate passing power and it will corner well but at speed mid corner bumps can be unsettling lol. to top it all off I got it for 7000 with 100,000 kms so a good deal none the less.

The question is a Mazda3 GT vs. an '04 civic with a d17. Considering the Mazda3 GT is capable of low 15's in stock form, compared to the mid/low-16 second civic, I'd say the mazda has a bit of an advantage. Even the EP3 with its k20 can just barely make it into the 15's.
I'm not saying hondas aren't good cars, but they're not what everyone seems to think they are. I have a feeling half of the people saying the civic will win have never driven another car.
And devo, you're right... there are very few stock 4-bangers that can hit triple digits in the quarter in stock form. Anyway, as long as you like your car, that's all that matters.

as much as i am a honda fan i think the mazda will take it but my buddy has a stock 99 eclipse GS auto and I have a nearly stock (aside from intake) 95 civic ex coupe 5 speed he thinks he can take my civic in a race. I was just going to take him to the track on street night and embarrass him but was looking for a second opinion as to who would win
