It's really hot out there and I need to drive with the A/C on, but my car accelerates so slow when it's on.
A friend of mine told me that I might have to change my battery.
I haven't changed it ever since I owned the car. That is about 3-4 years, and I don't know at what time the previous owner changed it.
I've drained my batteries a couple times by forgetting to turn the headlights off.
I know that having the a/c on does make the car a bit slower, but mine is a lot slower. It's like having turbo lag. It takes a while before my car accelerates when press on the gas.

 

Your a/c is run by a compressor which is turned on your accesory belt. You engine is small and has very little torque, so trying to turn the compressor robs a lot of power from the engine.

 

im with you, i got a d16y7 and when i put my a/c on my car just blogs soooo much,i hate it..you can see it take alot from your battery too, on my volt gauge you can see the volts drop by like 3 unless your driving, and i got a yellow top (one of the top batterys)..so its not your battery, its just the way it is

 

Think of the AC Button as the "Anti-Turbo Button."

No matter what you do, it's a parasite that will suck down your horsepower.

 

when u turn the a/c on it kicks in the compressor and the compressor needs power to run it, so it takes power from the engine to run it..theres nothing u can do about it that i know of but live with it, does it for every car...

 

Yeah, I did know that turning the a/c on was going to take power away.
It seems like it's worse now.
I used to have a d16z6, but now I have a d16y8. That's just the engine.
Wow, it's a good thing I didn't buy the yellow top. I was thinking of getting one today.

That's why I leave nothing of value in my car.

There are a lot of things that can cripple a car and would be too time consuming (or complicated) for a criminal to figure out... there are several regular little fuses you can pull that wouldn't be readily evident that renders the car useless if pulled.

 

I just dont use my AC.
