My brothers buddy just bought a '92 accord manual tranny four banger, it is stock. He claims he can beat me in a race. I told him he probably could, Ive got an automatic '00 civic with a ram intake, bosch iridiums, and accel ignition wires. On top of that im willing to bet that my engine isnt as tired and my car is more aerodynamic and lighter. What do you guys think? I do know I can out handle him. Will I own him?

I think you will. Have confidence, and if you'd like, shift yours manually, let those rpm's get up there. Find a safe place to race if not the track. Thats just my opinion.

 

i dont know man i have a few friends with that generation accord....one friend ran 16.3 with intake and a muffler thats not fast but for just spending $100 it aint bad you do have the weight advantage but he has the tranny advantage i say race and see what happens

 

well, id leave it in D3, if i put it in 2, it will just skip 1st and stay in 2 which is a slow start off. thanx, im waiting for one or two more answers before i call this guy and tell him hes gonna get owned

 

dont talk too much crap, but i think you could beat him. i say go for it. but screw shifting manually, it will shift pretty damn close to redline anyways, as long as you have it floored.

i don't know if any of you guys are familiar with bike but i raced a couple busas and r1's on my 99 RR and whooped them horribly. reason being confidence those bikes had me beat by 400 and 100cc's respectively and the riders were much smaller than me.

 

Nah, I got confindence, I just posted this thread so I wouldnt get my pride dragged in the dirt : ). I figured I could nail him. I mean, hes got 178,000 miles on his and I got less than half on mine. Plus I got the VTEC. I looked at his 4 banger and it doesnt even say DOHC I could be wrong tho. But this guy doesnt know anything about his Honda. He told me it was a V6, I saw it and pointed it out that it was V4. He said it was a 94. I said my father had a 94 and that wasnt one... he swore up and down it was, then he looked at the owners manual and found out it was a '92 ! lol! Im dumb when it comes to engines (still learning, I know a hell of alot more thanx to you guys) but I didnt know there could be anybody dumber!

 

well i dont want to hurt your feelings or anything but there is no such thing as a "V4" in order for a motor to be considered a "v" it has to be in a "V" shape example: a "V6" that has 3 cylinders on one side and 3 on the other side or a V8 with 4 on one side and 4 on the other side i guess you could have a v4 but it would have to have 2 cylinders on each side and that wouldnt be very power efficient i dont believe. and also i dont tihnk they ever made an accord with a DOHC so unless that accord has had a swap done, it is not DOHC. but like i said earlier, i had a friend with a muffler and a short ram intake that ran 16.3(its not fast)and i have another friend who had a 97ex with intake header and exhaust that ran 16.5 with a manual tranny. Now if this kid cant drive then it should be a good race but if he is good with the clutch...

 

well, i didnt know that about the "v". Now I know, but I meant a four banger and no you didnt hurt my feelings. Ive never ridden in this car with this guy but my brother has and he says im WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better at stick ( I used to roll in a 95 240SX SE manny tranny). He has nothing done to it. The only mod in that car is a cd player.
