Default Is it worth it??

Hello everyone. I am new here but I have a question. I have a 1989 Civic DX with the 1.5L and manual tranny. The car needs some minor body work, new paint, carpet, seats, headliner etc.. It has 240,000 miles and burns a lot of oil. Obviously it will need a new motor. I probably will need to replace the tranny too. Also the AC went and I have replaced the compressor once which lasted for about 2 weeks. So my question is, is it worth it to invest the money to make this a nice car again or do I donate it and by a used honda for around 5000. How much do you think it will take to fix just what I have listed? Let me know what you guys think and thanks for listening.

John

You can do the re-build yourself, but it may just be cheaper to convert to OBD1, and find a D16z6 motor for about $4-500. IMO, EF's (88-91 chassis) are not worth anything as I find them horrid looking (exterior and interior). Just my opinion though.

Since exterior and interior need extensive work, then NO, junk it.
