o ok well i heard it from a kid at school. but o well you learn something new every day. just for information, a smaller, faster spooling turbo give you more torque right, cuz i know a big turbo doesn't spool up until a high rpm.

hope you weren't talking about me there, lol.

but my bad on the misleading post, i meant to only highlight the vtec+boost portion. If you have a tuner that's worth anything, he can extract what the motor can give, regardless of vtec or not. there are too many factors to list to show what sacrifices torque, so the kid has no argument.

Yea, there are plenty of built and boosted GSR and Y8/Z6/D15B etc motors that make decent power and if you and your tuner know what youre doing, having vtec isnt really a big issue at all, not like you can ever hear the crossover at 5500 anyway

well im not exactly a turbo specialist, but I can tell you that when I had my 180sx with a larger upgraded turbo then the stock t25, It did take longer for it to spool up and without a tune there was quite a bit of lag, but when it hit watch out because it will hit hard and all at once. Im not sure I think I had a gt2871r it was good for about 480hp setup.

idk if there still is but there was an old turbo install DIY, and Pete's turbo grocery list was there at one point, so is Tony's "what you might wanna know", so i guess a combination of that might be helpful lol
