Another update today..

managed to make myself a nice little bench to start work on..

got the exhaust off first. shortly followed by the inlet manifold, gearbox and starter.

then the head came off. the valves look in a bad bad way! will get some pics up of them at a later date

But that didnt matter because whilst i was doing that my new valves arrrived!

Then the sump came off...

And then the pistons out!

And that is where i got to today! will be taking the crank ect out having it lightend and balanced. along with a lightend flywheel and uprated clutch. i will.. of course include picture on the way!

not bad for only 4 or so hours work. including tea breaks of course!

thanks for looking

Another small update today. only had an hour or so to mess about so thought i would trial fit the intercooler and show you the valves i promised pictures of.

first off the valves.. they are discusting.. there now sitting in alot of engine degreasant. get all the shiz off the head before changing the valves.

Now for the cooler. only trial fitted it. so used wood to support it just to make sure it will fit. it can go a couple of inches higher. but i ran out of wood so it will be a tad higher when done

its a 780mm x300mm x 75mm

as you can see the bumper isnt straight but you get the idea of what its going to look like

port polish head plus 16 New valves. started grinding them in today!

Then i started getting abit of sound proofing in the car. i know most people strip it out and want it as light as possible. but i want it to be cosy aswel. started off by putting sound proofing in the door cards. i have done both front doors with just the sound proofing then the rears with sound proofing and then loft insulation. it should be nice and quiet inside i hopes!!

Got some ARP rod bolts ordered too. so they should be here soon. along with the pistons and rods!!

also... can anyone please identify what this /these orange plugs are please. i have one on each side of the car

thanks!

thanks for looking

Had a change of heart with the pistons... srp piston and eagle rod combo got pretty decent reviews on owners forum so went for low comp setup

Hey all! another update today. only a small one. work is slow at the minute as i am working tll 8.30 at night so by time im home i just wanna hit the sack! still trying to get sorted though

well i finally got the pistons rods and rings. that arrived after paying another £108 on top for import fee's took me about an hour to build them up! damn sprial rings take ages to get to fit properly!!

and the old ones in comparason!

they feel nice and strong but of course only time will tell

I then set about cleaning the block up. it had alot of paint on it from when i painted the block. so abit of very light sanding sorted that out. although it will be skimmed of course

looks alot neater now starting to get really excited about the project!!

then i put the piston rings in to start setting the gap! unsure what size to go for. i read they can be between 0.15 and 0.30mm so i still have to decide on that but we will se how it goes!

any advice on the piston ring gap would be excellent!!

thanks

Another update for yall!! had the head skimmed a couple of days ago...

then got the pistons in

noticed i was getting some clearance issues so it all had to come out again...put some notches in the block. didnt take any photos of this though... then once it was all back in again the cast part that goes on the crank was catching. so again... modification had to be made...

started off just taking abit out so i had better clearance.. but decied to go all out and took basically alot of it.. as much as possible! i think this is going to be better for heat exchange also. better oil flow
