just wondering anyone use duplicolor to paint parts for a silver civic, is there a really close match? are 96 silver civic a bit darker than 99 silver civics?

just wondering if i should get duplicolor paint for about $6 a can its going to be close to the silver but not quite or go with autotouchup.com for $20 a can that i know would match up pretty good. I think i will need 5 cans of base color paint so that would total to about $100 not including primer and clearcoat.

Anyone know how many cans of 11oz or 12 oz spray paint i will need to paint the black trim parts?

I used the Duplicolor Truck, SUV, Minivan T178 silver for my side skirts. Came out really nice and is extremely close to the OE VSM. Just make sure its all sanded down, cleaned, and use some plastic paint adhesive promoter! I'm taking a guess here and going to say you'll need about 4 cans total...maybe five.

Did you want to do the How to Guide on installing a lip kit? If not, no biggie, I'll be able to get it done when it gets a little warmer out.

thats the Duplicolor Silver (M) right? thats actually one of the ones that people says matches pretty nicely. I also read people got the Ultimate Silver to match pretty nice as well. BTW... what color primer did you use? and i'm assuming your using Duplicolor clear coat as well? got pics of the side skirts?

um... you can do the DIY for the lip, i still have no idea how i'm gonna install it yet.

UPDATE: got the sideskirts ripped out today, going to clean and sand them down tomorrow. I had to break the clips holding the side skirts on the bottom. Now i need to get some new ones. The funny thing is the clips are different on the left and right side. Is this how you guys sideskirts are?

Another question how do i remove the door molding in the rear quarter panel?

Yea, it is the T178M silver. I dont remember the kind of primer, probably just some of the cheaper pepboys stuff in gray. I used the duplicolor clearcoat.

(for some reason, theres like a blurry spot on the picture, I think my camera lens had a smudge on it)

I used to have 3 clips on the underside (in addition to the ones in the wheel well) of the sideskirt. They are a pain to take out, especially when the little plastic screw inside them doesnt want to come out. lol I only have 2 on each side now They are the same clips on each side though.

No clue on how to take off those moldings, I have been thinking about that, too. I guess you would have to remove the interior panel on the side and pop the moldings out from the inside?

in the pic the side skit and the door moldings kind of look lighter than the rest of the body? is this how it is in real life or is it just the picture

i guess i will use the T178M. is the adhesive promoter important. My friend is going to help me with the painting since he did it on his 96 accord. It came out pretty good. but he didn't use that stuff. He just told me to get sandpaper, primer, baser paint, and primer.

how do i remove the side interior panel to get to the molding? do i need to remove the back seat?

BTW... what clips do you guys have for the sideskirts on the bottom? since mines are two different sets

There is a guide on H-T that explains lip installation and painting at home. The guy had a Silver that matched dead on that came from an auto parts store. I can't seem to find the thread right now though...

update: got my sideskirts and front lip sanded and washed. ready to be painted on tuesday. my friend is going to help me with removing the door moldings and when those are painted i'll be painting the side mirrors and door handles on thursday

got some paint, got 2 cans of Duplicolor T138 Silver (M) and 2 cans of clear coat. still need 3 more cans of the silver paint, and 2 cans of primer

so i called up some local honda to find out if they have the 3 clips that goes on the bottom of the side skirts. guess how much they cost? cheapest one was $4.27 a piece and the most expensive one was $6.07 a piece. WOW. i think i will need to get them, i couldn't find them at my local auto store

The side moldings are factory painted. lol I guess that's just the lighting/shadowing playing tricks on your eyes.

Welcome to the stealership. There's a reason they call it that. Do you have a local store like Fastenal? They supply almost any type of fastener (screws, clips, anything...)

In for pics!
